About Me
Hi and welcome! I’m Noemi, a first-generation Mexican-American from Garland, Texas. Growing up as the daughter of Mexican immigrants, I’ve experienced the power of community, connection, and storytelling in shaping who we are. My family’s journey and the challenges we faced navigating health and identity have inspired me to create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Since the pandemic, I’ve personally felt the weight of isolation and hopelessness that so many of us are still carrying. That’s why Nuestra Vecindad is so important to me—it’s a project that’s all about bringing optimism and community connection back into our lives. Through storytelling, art, and shared experiences, I believe we can rebuild that sense of belonging that we’ve lost over the past few years.
With a background in biology and global health from Yale, I’ve poured my heart into using my education to support my community. Whether it’s through workshops, neighborhood gatherings, or digital storytelling, I’m committed to making this space one where we can all connect and grow together.
This site is a reflection of that mission—a place for you to share your story, learn from others, and feel like part of something bigger. I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to see how we can all come together to build a more hopeful, connected future.
